Day Three - Korean Cross-Country Cycle Route

First order of business: undoing yesterday's bike-in-the-lift palaver. Getting out of the hotel meant multiple trips up and down with bikes, wheels, panniers etc.

Bikes reassembled it was time for a morning of Gangnam Style. Weaving our way through the upmarket Gangnam shopping district we took photos of assorted K-pop dolls. Then it was time for Gangnam moves! Visiting the famous Gangnam Style hands sculpture (complete with the song playing) Alex couldn't resist showing us his style.😆

Nearby we found the Starfield Library, inside a shopping centre which literally had directional footpaths painted through it. From there, on to Bongeunsa Temple, home to an impressive 23-metre Buddha statue.

Today's cycling was once again through beautiful parklands and with scenic river and mountain views. Views of the Lotte World Tower, Korea's tallest building, loomed over the city. Alex tried a 7-Eleven noodle hot pot for lunch which was very 🔥.

We passed a BMX park, and of course Alex could not resist. Fully loaded bike, panniers and all, launching around the course like it was the most sensible idea in the world! At Gwangnaru Bicycle Park iced coffee and ice cream were a survival necessity in the heat.
We continued on towards Hanam, riding a beautiful section of path with river and mountain views. Once we arrived, we took the lift up Union Tower for fantastic views back over the path we'd just ridden and forward over tomorrow's route, with the city of Hanam below.

Tonight's Baro Hotel comes complete with a massage chair. We shouted ourselves dinner at a restaurant where we self-cooked on a hot plate at our table - very Korean and delicious, but (Kerrie) beware of the innocent looking green pepper 🥵.
