Day 21 – Korea Cross Country Cycle Route Antae to Busan

Our last day on the Cross Country Route! Breakfast options were limited this morning: instant noodles and banana cakes shaped like bananas. Taste-wise… well… let's just say the shape was the best part.

Today's ride was once again spectacular along the river. We collected our last bike passport stamp before the finish and were given some snacks, then shared ours with another Korean cyclist. Sharing food, even with strangers, seems to be a very big part of the culture here.

At a park with dragons emerging from beneath the surface, we met three Korean cyclists with whom we took photos, and we crossed paths with them several more times during the day.

The ride into Busan took us through beautiful gardens, wetlands with giant water lily leaves, and tree-lined avenues.

Then we arrived! We had the obligatory finish photo under the arch, got our completion stamps in our bike passports, and were handed our official finisher's certificates. We met all our Korean friends from earlier in the day again, and they insisted that we, like them, have a photo lifting our bikes overhead. Our bikes are a lot more loaded than theirs, so it took both of us to lift one!

Korea has an amazing network of off-road sealed cycle paths with spectacular scenery that must rival anywhere in the world. We're so thankful we decided to cycle here.

A few rest days in Busan now.
