Day 20: Korea Cross Country Cycle Route
Namji to Antae
Another day of cycling with river and mountain views, so beautiful!
Our first stop was Changnyeong Hanam Weir for our bike passport stamp. A bit further along we found a beautiful deck overlooking the river with a mountain backdrop, the perfect spot for morning tea.
Next came another weir and a tunnel before lunch. After that we crossed the river at Old Saengnim Bridge, one of four beautiful bridges spanning the river at this point.
Rolling into Antae for the night, our GPX file must have forgotten we were on bikes, because it sent us down a long flight of stairs. Alex got to carry 2 bikes, panniers and all down. 💪👏
Then came the hotel. They had a strict 6pm check-in time, and they were very adamant about it. We couldn't get into our room beforehand, even though it was cleaned and ready. They reluctantly let me use the room to change out of my riding clothes, but all our luggage had to stay in the garage with the bikes and the room key stayed at reception.
No problem. We wandered up to the nearby lake/dam, surrounded on three sides by mountains, then headed to dinner at 5 p.m.
When ordering off a Korean menu, you never really know what's going to arrive at the table. A huge amount of food appeared and we feared we'd ordered two ‘2 person meals’. But all good, it was only the one and for A$45, which we couldn't finish.
Back to the hotel at 6pm and the reception staff were much happier now that we were checking in at the correct time.😀
