Day 22: Korea Cycle Route
Busan (day 1)
A day off the bikes, and time to explore Busan!
Today was our first go at Korean public transport, so we topped up our T-Money cards, picked a bus number and thought, "Let's see where we end up."
First stop was Gamcheon Culture Village. Two buses later, we were there. Yay, we've mastered the bus system! To be honest there was English signage on the bus and Naver maps tells us which bus to catch. 😀
We spent a good two hours wandering the colourful village, exploring its sights and collecting stamps. Koreans love to collect stamps along their walking courses.
Another two buses took us to the Songdo Cloud Bridge, which stretches out over the bay. There were plenty of interesting things popping up out of the sea, including dolphins, whales and turtles (statues).
Next was the Songdo sea cable car, (Busan Air Cruise), across the bay to Annam Park. The views of the coastline and Busan were great. On arrival there were lots of photo ops once again. There were even dinosaurs to check out.
From there we headed to the Yonggung Suspension Bridge, which runs out over the water to a small rocky island. Very scenic!
We walked back along the Songdo Coastal Walk to Songdo Beach. The boardwalks run along the side of the cliff line and the views were great.
Then it was time to catch 2 buses back to the hotel. Lots of buses today, saves the legs!
This evening we headed out to dinner in a downtown area packed with restaurants and bright, flashing, colourful neon lights.
Tomorrow we have another day in Busan.
