Day 30: Korea Cycle Route Yeongsangang Bike Path Sunchang to Naju

Starting the day we cycled across from Sunchang to the start of our last Korean bike path, the Yeongsangang. The route kept us on quiet farm roads, down huge Metasequia tree-lined streets, and even through a dark, muddy tunnel.

Arriving at the start we stamped our bike passports once again and were on our way.

Along the ride today we swapped our bikes for a walk through Juknokwon Bamboo Forest. Wow! Over 310,000 square metres of towering bamboo, with scattered pavilions and a waterfall surrounded by pandas. A lovely, peaceful, walk, although we did need to choose our path to avoid the tour bus groups at times. 😆

Afterwards we rejoined the river and cycled on through open country, the river grasses shimmering in the sunlight and of course more flowers.

After 71km we found a hotel for the night. A small restaurant opposite the nearby University was serving cheap meals, obviously to get the students in, so we dined there having a yummy Japanese curry.
