The weather is warming up so it's time for water activities!

Lake Borumba Campground (https://campborumba.com.au/) is situated below the dam wall on Yabba Creek. It is a large beautiful grassy area, with Jacarandas in full bloom at this time of year.

After setting up camp early Saturday morning we drove 800m up the road to the dam picnic area and boat ramp.  We kayaked about 6km across the dam into Yabba Creek.

We were hoping to catch dinner - of the fish variety but only managed vegetarian, ie lots of weeds.

Although there was the big one (fish) that got away. Alex had a 50cm Saratoga on his line almost in the kayak before it managed to free itself. Not to worry, as apparently, they're not so good to eat due to many small bones.

The dam was very scenic and peaceful in its upper reaches, away from the many water skiers and jet skis zooming around the main area.

Heading back to the boat ramp the wind had picked up and we laboured against it and the swell from boats.  Back at camp we had a late lunch and enjoyed a lazy afternoon.

Sunday morning we were once again on the water, but this time by 6am, before the water skiers! The water was still and tranquil.

Unfortunately, still, no fish to be had, just more weeds.

Back to camp for breakfast and then a drive into Imbil for their Sunday markets.  Should have guessed being a small town, markets would be small - 6 stalls in total! Nevertheless, Imbil is a nice quaint little country town.

Back at the campgrounds we borrowed a free kayak (available to anyone staying at the campsite) and went for a short paddle along Yabba Creek below the dam wall.

The water level was low and we had to pull the kayak over many small rapids going upstream.

We found a rope swing for some fun and the water was perfect for a midday swim.

After lunch, we headed home feeling relaxed and vowing to return to this beautiful, well maintained & clean campground and it's surrounds.
