Another short walk in Isla Gorge NP. Today we went in search of Dave Gordon Springs via the Arch.
There is a faint footpad leading west off the cliff near the picnic area. A short walk takes us along a minor razorback before we dropped off into the arch.
After this, we dropped down the ridge into creek lines in search of the springs.
We are not sure if we found them, but we did find small pools of water which seemed unusual for these dry times.
Tracking back we decided to head higher up to explore the base of the cliff line. After some scrambling, we were rewarded with one of our highlights so far of the area - an amazingly huge cave/overhang!
We continued to skirt along the cliff base finding more caves.
Eventually, I lost my nerve with all the scrambling and insisted Alex stop poking around and find us an easy way back!
Although I had been somewhat scared I will admit this hike was awesome. Just make sure you are confident at scrambling.
