North Kobble Two Day Hike
With two spare days on hand, Kerrie weaves her magic and comes up with an overnight hike that is close to home, sounds like fun and most of all gets us out into the bush.
Kobble camps are North Kobble, Middle Kobble and you guessed it, South Kobble. South Kobble camp is a bit more remote and we decided to leave it for another day of exploring. There is also Camp Carey, which is only a 2.5km walk in from the carpark.
Our route followed mainly forestry tracks with a short stretch of off-track hiking at the beginning of the second day. The first day was mainly downhill, which was repaid with interest the next day i.e. nearly all the way up. The relative steepness of the terrain makes the relative short two days a bit harder, but we managed to do both days with only half days of walking. Half days are not to be scoffed at as they provide great opportunities to relax in nature and enjoy the campsite. North Kobble was our campsite and we visited Middle Kobble campsite for morning tea the second day.
Length of Hike
18 km approx
Time
2 half days approx
Best Time to do
Spring, Autumn or winter. Summer may be a bit hot.
Difficulty
Easy-Medium. Two relatively easy half days. The elevation gain on day two adds a little bit of zing. Also there is an off-track section but it follows up a well defined spur (at time of our walk there was also pink tape)
