After yesterday's hike up Neglected Mountain, and camping overnight at Stinson Park, we had originally planned a 'country roads' cycle around the area of Christmas Creek.  But the weather Gods had other ideas. An extremely windy night continued on into the morning so it was decided a more sheltered activity would be wise!

Having previously hiked to the Stinson Plane Wreck and Westray's gravesite but omitting Larapinta Falls we decided this would be perfect weather for this sheltered rainforest walk.

The walk starts at the end of Christmas Creek Road, shortly crossing private property before reaching Christmas Creek. An easy 'stepping stones' crossing is followed by a fairly easy footpad walk to Westray's gravesite.

From here on it's just follow the creek upstream, either boulder hopping in the creek or finding faint footpads on either bank.

It took us about 1 hour to the gravesite and a further 45 mins to Larapinta Falls, passing many giants of the forest.

On arriving at the falls we were astounded by the beauty surrounding us. We were very fortunate to have this stunning location all to ourselves.

The spray from the falls was extremely cold so we backtracked 100m to find a perfect seat where we enjoyed an early lunch enjoying the majesty of Larapinta Falls.

This walk was certainly worth doing either as a stand-alone walk or, for the very fit, as a side trip on route to the Stinson Plane Wreck. Another stunning part of Lamington National Park.
